A SPEECH FOR THE AGES

Hey everybody out there

Our guy won people! He won! He won! In spite of everything the naysayers have said & done, they couldn't stop it from happening. It is his time. It is our time. Our time not only as black people or as people of color, but our time as a nation. I am so happy that America has risen to the call. In my book MEDUSA THE BEGINNING, I talk about the huge potential we all have in us. I speak about the endless possibilities of what can be achieved if people put their minds to the task at hand. That is how I feel today about America, as if we as a nation, can do anything, anything. The voters were not fooled by all the confusion, they saw President-elect Barack Obama as a person.

Do you remember any of President-elect Barack Obama's acceptance speech? The following is an excerpt from the first black president elect's acceptance speech in my book MEDUSA THE BEGINNING, published in 2007. Can you spot the similiarities in words or general meaning? Can I see into the future or what?:)

... "Many of you have already accepted the fact that I am African American and realize my color makes no difference in my ability to lead, or to inspire. Let us now all get on with the business of improving our lives, of achieving success in our many endeavors.

"We did it. We won, not as a Democrat or Republican, not as a Liberal or Independent, but black and white, red, yellow, and brown, Christian and non-Christian, religious, atheist, man and woman, old and young, gay, straight, disabled and not. All of us—we the American people won..."

If you want to read the entire speech, it is in chapter 56 of the book. You can get the book MEDUSA THE BEGINNING on Amazon .com

As President-elect Barack Obama spoke, I was reminded a lot of the character in the book. I am thinking about putting parts of this speech on Youtube. I have to first find someone who will read it though.

very interesting comments. I agree, this overwhelming response to elect this man to the Presidency speaks to the hope and the confidence that he has been able to instill and inspire in the people, not just those in this country, but around the world. He has made us believe in ourselves again and believe that if we just work together, we can beat the odds and secure a wonderful future for our children.......yes we can.

Truly inspirational. I think a lot of us have a renewed sense of hope and a determination to make things happen, a determination to realize our dreams, if only we believe in ourselves and work hard to achieve all that we have the potential to achieve, against all the odds.

Yes indeed the similarities between the President Elect and the presdent in your book Medusa is truly remarkable. Having read the book last year I had goose pimples when Senator Obama was making his speech. A very momentous occasion indeed!
